 PLYMOUTH COUNTY JOB DESCRIPTION

 Part-time Clerical Position

 General Summary

Under general supervision of the County Recorder, assists in recording and maintaining land records, vital records and in the issuance of recreational vehicle licenses and registrations. 

 Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

Review, index, record and maintain legal documents that affect title to real estate in compliance with the Iowa Code and in accordance with established procedures.  Assists the general public with registering and titling boats, snowmobiles and all terrain vehicles and off road vehicles.  Assist in filing birth, death, and marriage records and issuing certified copies of vital records.  Assist couples in applying for a marriage license.Performs other job related activities as requested by the County Recorder or Deputy Recorder.

 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

Knowledge of the legal aspects of real estate documents such as deeds, mortgages, etc.  Familiar with various office equipment and computers.  Ability  to utilize effective verbal and written communication skills.  Ability to maintain and work with confidential information.  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others and provide courteous, quality customer service in an accurate and timely matter both in person and over the telephone. Must be detail oriented and possess good mathematical skills.  Good penmanship is required.Ability to multi task with numerous interruptions.  Ability to lift and carry heavy books weighing up to 50 pounds and ability to use a ladder to retrieve these books.  Pre-employment physical required.

 Special Qualifications:

Previous experience in a professional office atmosphere, accuracy and skills in office equipment and computer skills.

 Working Condition:

General indoor office environment.
